Pickled chillies & oils – heat from the jar and the bottle
Pickled chilli peppers and chilli oil are the easiest way to add heat to a meal without chopping fresh chillies. At Chilli Manufaktura you will find pickled chilli peppers in jars and chilli oil made with extra virgin olive oil in 100 ml bottles.
Pickled chilli peppers – our varieties
The sliced chilli peppers sit in a sweet-and-sour brine, pickled and sterilised, with no preservatives or additives. Each jar holds 100 g. You can choose from:
| Product | Heat | Level |
|---|---|---|
| Pickled green Jalapeno | 8,000 – 10,000 SHU | Mild |
| Pickled Cayenne | 30,000 SHU | Mild |
| Pickled Habanero | 300,000 SHU | Extra |
| Pickled Carolina Reaper with Jolokia, Habanero and Jalapeno | up to 2,000,000 SHU (Carolina Reaper) | Ultra |
SHU stands for Scoville Heat Units, the scale for chilli heat. Pickled Jalapenos are ideal for beginners, while the ultra hot mix is strictly for chilli pros.
Which pickled chilli is right for you?
If you are just starting out, go for the green Jalapenos or the Cayenne, which add a clear but friendly bite. Habanero brings a fruity flavour and real fire. The ultra hot mix with Carolina Reaper and Jolokia belongs in experienced hands – a single small piece is enough for a whole pot of goulash or soup.
What do you eat pickled chilli peppers with?
- burgers, hot dogs and sandwiches,
- pizza, nachos and quesadillas,
- tacos, burritos and wraps,
- salads and open sandwiches,
- cheese, eggs and bakes.
Tip: do not throw the brine away. A splash of the sweet-and-sour liquid gives dressings, marinades and sauces a spicy lift.
Chilli oil – olive oil with chilli
Our chilli oil is extra virgin olive oil infused with dried chilli peppers, 100 ml per bottle:
- Olive oil with Habanero chilli – medium hot to hot, with a fruity, tropical aroma,
- Olive oil with Carolina Reaper chilli – extra hot, for experienced fans, to be dosed drop by drop.
Use chilli oil wherever you would normally use olive oil: over salads, pasta, pizza, bruschetta and grilled or oven-baked meat. Drizzle it over a pizza just before serving or over freshly cooked spaghetti – the aroma is at its best when the oil is used cold.
